If you were Tally would you ask the warden to make you pretty?

No i would bust in to Dr.Cable's room and say make me a Special.

blog 51

Tally has finaly come clean. Do you think she will regrate it? Do you think david will change his mind about her?

No she will not regrate it because if she had not come clean matty would have told them and they would hate her for keeping it secret. But no david will not change his mind about Tally he will just say "Tally your amazing for saying that to the people you love." and get all lovey-dovey with her.

blog 50

should matty have forced shay to take the "cure?" Why or why not?

No because if she died or something went wrong she would have to like with that for her entire life and regrated it.

blog 49

if you were shay would you get the cure? why or why not?

No because i too would not belive them about the lesions and would just want to party all day like new pretties do.

blog 48

respond to the following quote from the chapter... what does it mean to you?
"Tally thought of the lesions in shay's brain. the tiny cancers or wounds or whatever they are that she did not even know she had. They were there somewhere changing her friends thoughts.warping her feeling, gnawing at the roots of who she was."

it means to me that tally is not talking to shay but a slightly different image of her friend.

blog 47

give a chronological list of the important events in the chapter. What is the kicker at the end of the chapter?

Tally finds shay and she was pretty, they get ever one out of there cells and shay tricks the special in to thinking there being interigated while they escape but at the end matty tells david that oz is dead.

blog 44

the uglies you met in this chapter are similar to tally at the beginning of the book. When you compare her to these uglies, how has tally changed and what has made her change?

She actes more grow up and serious and thats because she has been away from the city and sees throught its lies.

blog 43

do you think tally's plan will work? David wants to save his parents, but whats driving tally? do you think shes crazy, or are her feelings valid?

Yes tally plan will work and whats driving tally is that she wants to redeem herself for what she has done and I do not think she is crazy.

blog 42

how do david and tally describe the rusties?

They describe us as stupid for tampuring with the enviorment and depending on oil for almost every thing.

Is it accurate?

yes it is accurate because it is not smart to depend on oil for every thing.

blog 41

find information about a time we werent prepered. post it and cite it.

On August 20th, the earth began to rumble and crack, and the usually calm sea gave way to giant waves. Horses, cattle and birds became uneasy and restless, as if they could foresee the disaster that awaited the town. Finally, on the morning of August 24th, 79 A. D. the volcano burst open with an earsplitting crack. Smoke, mud, flames and burning stones spewed from the summit of the mountain, sending a rain of ash and rock through the surrounding countryside. The mud seeped down the sides of Vesuvius, swallowing nearby farms, orchards and villas. Adding to the destruction were the mephitic vapors that accompanied the falling debris; the fumes first caused deliriousness in their victims, then suffocated them.

Some people of Pompeii grabbed their beasts of burden and attempted to flee the area; others perhaps chose to wait until the streets were clear of the panicked masses; still others sealed themselves up in rooms, supposing that the ashes and poisonous gasses would not harm them there. The unfortunate people who could not escape in time to avoid disaster were killed by falling buildings, overcome by the mephitic gas, or simply buried by the rapidly falling ash. Their bodies were quickly covered by the volcano's mineral deposits, which covered Pompeii in a layer more than 30 feet thick.

Over the years, the memory of Pompeii and the surrounding cities faded into a vague legend about the lost treasure of la Citta ("the City"). Interest in recovery of the ancient sites did not return until the fourteenth century

Describe the irony in tally's victory over Dr.Cable. What was lost in the process.

Blog 39

Is david right? do you think tally is amazing? Do you think she should feel guilty? why or why not?

No david is wrong because tally is switching sides and because she did not tell everyone about the pendant. She should feel guilty because of her the smoke and david parents are captured.

blog 38

who is the voice in the dark? do you think it is a friend or enemy of tally? What do you think tally will do now?

I think its either David or the boss and its not a enemy because they would not know tally. I think tally and david or the boss will go back to the smoke.

blog 37

explain what self-preservation means to you. Is it the most important thing? would you lie because of it?

self preservation to me is making sure you dont get hurt or keeping things from people and freinds so they and you dont get hurt emotionally or physically. Depending on the situation yes I would lie because of it.

blog 36

Tally had changed her mind on the smoke and the operation, but what will she do about all that now? whose side is she on?

I think tally will try to escape and try to liberate the smoke before everyone knows she betrayed them. the reason i think that is because shes on the smokes side.

blog 35

is this the climax of the book? explain why or why not in a few sentences.

yes because the smokes destroyed and all the people are probably going to be killed or sent home. its more likely to send them home because if tally dies thats the end of the book.

blog 33

respond to the following quote, what does it mean to you the story? "becoming pretty doesn't just change the way you look....it changes the way you think.

I think to me that tally might try to save peris and try to turn him back. to the story it means that ta;;y might have to save people from getting the operation

how would you want to change mentally and physically if you were pretty?

i would like to be more flexible and stronger like the specials and have more charisma.

Summarize the chapter highlight the important events in chronological order.

Tally is waiting in the operation room when a agent from Special Circumstances comes in and tells Tally there is a problem with her operation.

Predict what you think will happen next.

I think Tally will run away to the smoke were Shay went to.

blog 14

Respond to the following quote, what does it mean to you?

"We dont have to look like everyone else , Tally, and act like everyone else. We have a choice. We can grow up any way we want."

It means to me that you have the freedom to do what you want and not have people control you and tell you lies.

blog 13

Two fights were presented in this chapter. Compare and contrast both of them. list similarities and differences. Why did each fight take place? What was the outcome of each one?

One of the fights was fake while the other was real. Both involved Tally and Shay. One was a prank and the other was about the operation and David. The second fight toke place because Tally was saying she was ugly but Shay thought she was beautiful. In the first fight the outcome was that Tally "won" and they both tricked the kids in to thinking it was a fight. The second Tally and Shay were angry with each other so Shay ran away and Tally staid behind.

blog 12

What does the quote from the following chapter tell you about the city?

"That was one thing about being outside the city:it made all that nature stuff they teach in school seem a lot more useful. She remembered how rainwater fell on the mountains and soaked in to the ground..."

It tell me that everything is done for you inside the city so you dont have to lift a finger because you have technology to do every thing for you.

blog 11

write a 1 paragraph summary about this chapter. tell important events in chronological order.

Shay and Tally go to the rusty ruins and explore the buildings. When Shay tells Tally about a roller coaster there was a gap and Tally gets mad at shay because she could have died. When Tally gets over it Shay makes Tally promise that she wont tell anyone about what she is going to show her. She tells Tally about a man who lives out in the ruins that she promised not to tell anyone about.

Find two similes in this chapter and quote them,as well as there page number.

Pg 62 "Every building sported jagged spurs of metal sticking from its broken walls, like bones jutting out from a long dead animal."
Pg 63 "A shape emerged from the forest, a long spine that had rose and fell like a frozen wave."

In this chapter tally says "I kind of like being fooled about somethings." Do you agree with Tally,or would you rather know the reality behind everything? Why?

Yes I agree because, Knowing every thing would be boring and nothing would be fun if you know it all.

Find information on white river rafting and post it here, along with website URL.

It is interesting to note that whitewater rafting was one of the earliest forms of transportation. It was not only used for carrying people but also for transferring goods from one place to another. However, it became quite popular as a form of leisure activity in the 1980s.

In 1811, the first recorded attempt to navigate the Snake River in Wyoming was planned by the Overland Astorians. While attempting to boat the stretch below Jackson Hole, the river was found to be too treacherous and it came to be called ?Mad River.?

The rubber river raft is believed to have been invented in the early 1840s. It was first made by Lt. John Fremont, who was then serving in the U.S army and Horace H. Day. They invented the rubber raft with the intention of surveying the Rocky Mountains and the Great Plains. Although the raft was invented in the mid-nineteenth century, it was not until the turn of the century that the first ever commercial whitewater trip was undertaken. At first, surplus military rafts were used as boats and it was only much later that inflatable rafts were used.

Private companies played a major role in augmenting the rafting business. In 1956, one of the members of the most affluent business families of America, John D. Rockefeller built a resort that introduced one of the first floating trips in the country. However, it only evoked a lukewarm response. Later, in the 1960s and 1970s, exclusive whitewater rafting companies were formed. These include the Becker-Cooke Expeditions, Hatch River Expeditions and Slickrock Adventures.

Rafting was first included in the Munich Olympic Games, 1972. Subsequently, it was included in the 1992 Barcelona Games and the 1996 Atlanta Games. In 1996, the Ocoee River in Tennessee Valley played host to the whitewater events of the Summer Olympic Games.

Describe the rusty ruins? what are they? what happened during this time period?

The rusty ruins are a old city from our present day with rusted buildings, but the reason they were abandoned is because something happened and every one panicked and made a new society were thing go smoothly and nothing bad happens.

blog 8

Reflect on the following quotes what does each one mean to you?
"making ourselves feel ugly is not fun"..."This whole game is just designed to make us hate ourselves." This quote to me means that the city wants you to get what everyone else has and makes you feel ugly so you get the operation.
"Everyone judged everyone else on their appearance.people who were taller got better jobs...People killed each other on stuff like skin color."(referring to when people were ugly) This quote means to me that they learn a lot about the rusties and how they lived and how some were racist.
"It's the only way to make people equal"(becoming pretty)Its saying that if you make everyone look almost or completely alike no one will hate or judge each other.

Blog 7

Why do you think the new pretties do not come back to uglyville?

I think the reason they dont come back to visit is because they do nothing but play all day and night so there too "Busy" to visit.

Describe there mental and physical transformation into new pretties?

New pretties seem to be stupid and dont lift a finger to do anything and dont care about anything that is not fun to them
